Why You Should Write For Us

Here at Digital Lard we are always looking for new contributors, if you are a budding or even an experienced writer and are looking for somewhere on the web to showcase your work then why not give us a try.

Reviewer:

This is something that we are always looking to expand upon in order to improve the site, this could be Movies, Games or Music. However we must point out that there is not a plethora of free review copies to be had, We are sent review disks (Mainly Movies at the moment) and they are distributed. There is a post in the forums where they are listed and you can choose which ones you want, but you would also be expected to review titles from your own collection.

Article and Features writer:

If writing detailed articles and features is your thing then this could be for you. We are looking for people to write in-depth articles and featurettes on all aspects of Movies, DVD, Games and Music related items. You would have a predominantly free reign over what you write as long as it is relevant to the theme of the site. You may find it beneficial to have contacts within the Industry to get the most from this role.

News Writer:

If getting your investigative hat on is your thing then this is something new for the Digital Lard site, You would of course need contacts within the industry but anything news worthy that is Movie, Game or Music related is more than welcome. What’s in it for me?

There are one or two perks available for contributing to Digital Lard, firstly we do receive many check disks from PR companies to review. Not only does this mean that you can see the films before their official release, but more often than not you can keep the review disk. Also we now run a reward points scheme, the more you contribute, the more points you can earn. Points can be traded in for shopping vouchers or electrical goods such as iPods etc. What you earn is up to you, the more you contribute the more you get back.

Digital Lard is a fast growing website, we regularly receive over 120,000 Unique visitors every month and the figures are still growing every month. If you’re a budding writer we believe the site can be a great vehicle to give your work exposure and provide experience of writing for an ever increasing audience.

Requirements:

Digital Lard is run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, as such all contributor positions are unpaid, although there is the points system (see above), additionally we would only be interested in people that can offer a decent level of commitment to the site, so if you are a budding or experienced writer that wants to showcase their work Digital Lard is ideal.

For DVD Reviewers you would need to have at least a 30” widescreen television or better, a DVD Player and a surround sound system with an amplifier that give Dolby Digital 5.1 as a minimum although DTS would be good too although not a must. You would also need a computer with a DVD Drive in order to take screen grabs, These pictures if need be could be emailed to an administrator in order to configure them for web use.

Reviewers for Music and Games would obviously have access to those systems in order to play them in the first place, no high end specialist equipment is needed as a minimum.
