Mercury Meltdown (PSP)

For all of you who don't know, this is the follow up to Archer Macleans Mercury, which was available on the release date of the PSP. I was really excited when I found out they would be doing a follow up. The new version contains twice as many levels as the original along with the availability of upto 500 additional levels via download. One of the major changes is the graphics. They have changed to a more cartoon style and I cant help feeling they should have stuck with the original style which was better. On some levels, it is difficult to tell the contrast between the background and platforms due to the intermix of colours used. They have also introduced several new elements of gameplay such as different blob states. I was surprised to see some of the stages in the first world were quite complex and relatively difficult to master compared to the original. However, unlike the original you dont have to successfully complete all the levels in the first world to open up the next world. If you can reach the highest scores, there are also bonus levels. If you like puzzle games which are a challenge, then this will entertain you but I'm afraid the original is still my favourite due to its superior graphics and simplicity.
