Six high-school friends now in their late twenties meet for a fun-packed weekend aboard a luxury yacht off the coast of Mexico to celebrate their friend Zach’s birthday. Amy (Susan May Pratt) and James (Richard Speight Jnr., Band of Brothers) arrive with their baby Sarah and are joined by Zach (Niklaus Lange) and his girlfriend Lauren (Ali Hillis, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang). Their flashy pal Dan (Eric Dane, X-Men: The Last Stand) has provided the yacht for the party, and the friends are unsurprised to find him onboard ‘entertaining’ a beautiful blonde named Michelle (Cameron Richardson).
With everyone aboard the friends speed off into the ocean and get the party started. They drop anchor and all jump into the sea for a swim except Amy and Dan. A childhood incident has left Amy terrified of the water and she insists on wearing a life jacket. Deciding Amy should face her fear, Dan grabs her and jumps in to join the others. But in doing so he makes a terrifyingly simple mistake, which leaves the friends unable to get back on the boat and at the mercy of the sea.
Initially optimistic, the friends set their minds on getting back onboard. However, desperation soon washes over them as the gravity of the situation sinks in and the slippery sides of the boat that lie between them and salvation prove impossible to scale. With no sign of rescue, fear grips the group, twisting their minds and causing them to turn against each other. Two of the friends become seriously injured and something in the water brushes against Michelle’s leg…As night draws in, who will have the strength to survive?
