“Original and intriguing”
New York Times

Universal Pictures is delighted to announce the long awaited UK DVD premiere of Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun (aka Doppelganger) the cult 1969 science fiction movie written by the world renowned Gerry Anderson (Thunderbirds, Stingray) which set a new standard for special effects in science fiction at the time of its release.

This exciting, intense science fiction adventure lands on DVD courtesy of Universal Pictures on 8 September 2008.

Set one hundred years into the future, scientists discover an exact duplicate of Earth orbiting on the other side of the sun. Two astronauts are sent to uncover the secrets of this planet, but when their journey ends three weeks early they must embark on a life or death mission to determine whether they have arrived back home or on the strange mirror world.

Anderson is responsible for creating some of the most well loved franchises in popular science fiction. From his initial smash hit Fireball XL5, Anderson went on to produce Stingray, the iconic Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet And The Mysterons, both of which are still wildly popular with audiences young and old today.

Despite only a limited release initially, Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun has gone on to become a cult classic, fondly remembered by those who saw its original release, and appreciated by younger science fiction fans for its original, intriguing plot and Gerry Anderson’s dazzling and ground breaking special effects.

Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun is an imaginative, eye-popping science fiction adventure that offers a journey few will ever forget.
