World Wrestling Entertainment® (WWE) division is pleased to announce its latest DVD release, THE CONDEMNED, distributed by Lionsgate Home Entertainment (UK) Ltd.
THE CONDEMNED stars World Wrestling Entertainment Superstar ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin whose magnetic presence and bold yet charming nature has captivated audiences around the world.
Austin makes his starring debut in the first of a three picture deal under the WWE Film banner as the lead in THE CONDEMNED, which will be released on DVD across the UK on Monday 24th March 2008.
Austin plays Jack Conrad, a prisoner awaiting the death penalty in a corrupt Central American prison, who is forced to fight to the death for his one and only chance at freedom. Jack Conrad (Austin) is a death row prisoner in a corrupt Central American prison, a hell hole on earth. In a bizarre twist, Conrad is ‘purchased’ by a wealthy television producer to take part in an illegal reality game show. Brought to a remote desolate island, Conrad finds himself trapped in a fight to the death against nine other condemned killers from all corners of the world. With no chance of escape – and millions of viewers watching the uncensored violence online – Conrad must use all his murderous strength and skills to remain the last man standing: his only chance at freedom.
Austin has become a household name across the globe thanks to his legendary career with World Wrestling Entertainment. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin has done it all. Austin has held the much-coveted WWE Championship no less than six times. The ‘Texas Rattlesnake™’, as he is often referred to, is a three-time Royal Rumble® Winner and the 1996 King of the Ring®. He holds an immense international fan base and is considered to be one of the most popular WWE Superstars of all time. The Texas native recently relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his new film career.
Jam-packed with fighting sequences, explosive action and special effects, THE CONDEMNED is an non-strop thrill ride co-starring notorious hard-man Vinnie Jones (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, X-Men: The Last Stand) and Rick Hoffman (Hostel). Directed and co-written by Scott Wiper.
