The Birds And The Bee's EP Track Listing :: Black Dress :: You & Your Tune :: Criminal :: I Can't Read Lips... Unless They're Touching Mine ::

From what i've been told of Tonight Is Goodbye, they've had their fare share of troubled times, losing two band members at a point where everything was seemingly going right.
Most bands would have lost track or given up, but these guys with an average age of just 17, managed to drag themselves out of the dust and use the time out for their benefit.

We have Ant West (vocals), Casey Roarty (guitar), Callum Howes (guitar), Thomas Howe (bass), and George Lindsay (drums) forming Tonight Is Goodbye. Wests vocals are a pleasant surprise. This guy can actually sing and uses it with the bands sound, instead of against it, which so many UK based acts are doing at the moment.

Black Dress has a funky little drum track, indie style funk splattered guitars, and backing vocals which hi-light Wests main points in the lyrics. The track twists and turns between a very soulful sound and a hard edged alternative feel similar to the likes of Bloc Party.
The contrasting vibes continue throughout the EP, leaving you grooving and bouncing along one minute, and feeling like you've learnt something the next.

You And Your Tune is a great example of that, including the addictively rousing lines 'Everyone is singing other peoples songs, they know the words, but they just cant sing it like the singer does.' aimed at the amount of blatant copying and lack of individuality in the current UK scene.

I'm not usually partial to this genre of music, but i really warmed to The Birds And The Bees. I found myself singing along with West, tapping out the funky bass lines on my desk whilst daydreaming, and actually looking up where these guys are gigging next.

Having already played gigs at London's Brixton Academy, had a track used on a Drive Thru Records compilation, and grabbed a spot at Profilefest, the band have their fare share of experience and fans. The Birds And The Bees will add a new dimension to them and will open doors that deserve to be opened for Tonight Is Goodbye.
Despite making me feel over the hill at 25, i feel all five lads have their feet firmly on the ground. The potential is already overflowing, so with a good tour from now through to September along with radio play on Kerrang! and XFM, Tonight Is Goodbye should confirm themselves a definite place on the UK scene.
