Single Track Listing: I Am The Night, Colour Me Black :: Run Home
Not knowing anything much about the band, with a name like Priestess i was semi-expecting some new age goth rock to come at me from the CD, Instead my eardrums were pretty much blasted from the second the disk slipped into the computer.
'I Am The Night, Colour Me Black' assaults us with thudding metal drumwork and relentless guitar riffage similar to that of Sabbath from the very start. Vocalist Mikey Heppner counter balances his rough yet soulful voice perfectly with the heavy un compromised kick-ass rock on this track, and seemingly throughout the album, 'Hello Master' which this single release comes from.
'Run Home' delivers more of the same juicy stuff to get your teeth into. Starting off with a dark and rolling
bassline to pull us in, developing into melodic rock and roll with some delicious growly harmonies from the rest of the guys in the band, It's quite addictive.
I can see Priestess doing well riding the wave of new bands trying to bring back the old values and sounds of rock before the Myspace angles and broken heart tattoos took over. Due to come over to the UK for a tour in May, you can find out tour information and other band related bits at their official site www.priestessband.com and the band's official Myspace page http://myspace.com/priestessband
