'Parallel Worlds' Elliot Minor

Former choristers, Elliot Minor appear to be suffering from an identity crisis whilst stuck in a time warp. They clearly yearn to play rock music, but obviously aren’t ready to remove the shackles of their classical past. The fact ‘Parallel Worlds’ sounds like it features on a 80s action movie soundtrack might have to remain a mystery.

‘Parallel Worlds’ unsuccessfully attempts to fuse classical orchestration with rock, but never quite manages to combine the two simultaneously, flitting instead in a rather disjointed fashion from one to the other.

There are some redeeming moments. The opening piano for example, sounds as though it was commissioned for a Tim Burton film and raises expectations far higher than is fair on the listener as for the most part this is a highly forgettable track which possibly won’t even secure Elliot Minor fifteen minutes of fame.

It is Sara El-Hanfy who will be proved to be stuck in a time warp, too unmusical to be able to recognise innovative talent when she hears it. My advice to readers: save this brainless review to make your friends laugh in six months' time, when Elliot Minor will be topping charts around the world (and Sara El-Hanfy will still be embarrassing herself on "various online music sites" for the few people who bother to read her); and listen to Elliot Minor!

I agree with Takashi that Sara doesn't seem to know what she's talking about. OK, she doesn't like it--that's fine--but what's all this crap about "flitting" between "classical orchestration" and rock? Has she actually listened to the track? I can't hear a lot of "flitting" myself, and if there is any, I think it's pretty successful! Less than 15 minutes of fame? Hmm . . . like Takashi says, save it.

The only comment I have to make about this is that Sara El-Hanfy, if a complete prick. I may be bias, but Elliot Minor are excellent. Their mix between classical instruments and modern jazz/rock instruments have a huge impact and in my opinion, they gain their own type of genre. The neo-classical style in which they produce record and sing their music is excellently pieced together and I hope that Elliot Minor become huge and make a lot of money. Their music is excellent.
