Initial]
I will review Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury. I refuse to believe no one has heard of Bruce Lee, I will examine if he is as good as history says. Movie The movie is about a character Chen Jun (Bruce Lee) who has come home to find out his master is dead. It becomes obvious a local Japenesse school is behind it. When Bruce Lee finds out, he invites them for a cup of tea, (just kidding) that is when the action begins. To my previous question, history can never tell you how good Bruce was, because there are not enough words to describe him. Bruce was brilliant, his martial arts, appears effortless, yet it is so engaging. Don't be fooled though, his acting to my surprise was good as well. This movie is all about Bruce, and that is what makes it works. Its has a solid storyline, good acting, great martial arts and THE LEGEND BRUCE LEE.
Picture
The transfer is perfect. It’s anamorphic, and there is not a scratch on movie, HKL have done another fine job. Soon enough when reviewing HKL movies, I will just write under picture, HKL, as the work they have done (and do) is nothing short of a miracle.
Sound
It is Dolby 5.1. Problem is with martial arts film, especially in this era, all the work is on screen in front of you, that is where the action is. So even though its 5.1, rear speakers aren't used much. But hey you've spent money on an amp and speakers, so at least it is 5.1. The sound is otherwise crisp and clear. You get choice of Cantonese or English dubbing - whatever floats your boat. I should mention that if you use subtitles, they’re good, clear and accurate.
Extras
As I always say its quality not quantity, and this DVD is full of good things. First is a really good, informative commentary from HK expert Bey Logan (I think this man knows everything about HK movies, I kneel before his knowledge). You get a cool animated biography, as well as some interesting interviews; a lot of effort has been put in here. You also get the usual photo gallery and about 10 different trailers (nice). It’s a nice mixture of quality extras. Overall Bruce Lee, you now have a chance to experience the LEGEND. (PS Its is uncut - so watch those nunchakus fly)
