::METAL AND ULTIMATE SUMMER SCHOOLS 2007 AT THE BRIGHTON INSTITUTE OF MODERN MUSIC and NOTTINGHAM ROCK CITY::
It's been a busy year for the UK's leading music college Brighton Institute of Modern Music (BIMM). From setting up musician scholarships with Funeral For A Friend and Bullet For My Valentine to stacks of visits from Rock and Indie royalty including: Red Hot Chili Peppers, James Blunt, Hard Fi, Scissor Sisters, Jarvis Cocker and The Feeling. And it doesn't stop there, as BIMM is gearing up to opening its doors for three groundbreaking summer schools in August.
This year sees BIMM endorsees Orange Amps and VANS offer up some incredible prizes for the Kerrang Metal and Highway To Hell Summer Schools. A free guitar stack is up for grabs for the best guitar player. The stack consists of the Orange Tiny Terror Head and 1 x 12 cab (there are also have 5 swag bags for the runners up).
And it doesn't end there skate company VANS are offering the awesome prize of 'free shoes for a year' to the best drummer at the Highway to Hell School!
The summer schools give players the opportunity to improve technique and styles whilst rubbing shoulders with the stars. During both summer schools players study technical development and live performance skills using industry standard equipment modern and vintage under the guidance of the biggest names in music.
Between them the college tutors and guests have sold hundreds of thousands of albums signed to major and independent record labels, had chart hits, toured the world at stadium level (including Australia, Japan, USA), played main stage at Download, Glastonbury, Reading and Ozzfest, recorded dozens of Radio One sessions as well as having their music in films on television and in video games.
The Ultimate Summer School 6th -9h August will be studying and playing pop, indie , blues and funk including songs in the style of: Oasis, The Automatic, Maximo Park, Bloc Party, The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Ordinary Boys, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys, Feeder, Led Zeppelin, Lenny Kravitz, Jimm Hendrix, U2, Queen, Eric Clapton, Oasis, Michael Jackson and more.
The Kerrang Metal Summer School 13th -16th August will be studying and playing songs in the style of: Deftones , Metallica, Trivium, Funeral For A Friend, Iron Maiden, Fall Out Boy, Slayer, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Red Hot Chili Peppers, System of a Down, Green Day, Bullet For My Valentine, Sikth, Therapy, Lost Prophets, Slipknot, My Chemical Romance, Biffy Clyro, and more.
The "Highway To Hell" Kerrang Metal Summer School 18th August (one day only)
Sees the Metal School tutors and guests get on the road in a double decker tour bus to bring the metal to Rock City Nottingham. The one day school will be studying and playing songs in the style of: Deftones , Metallica, Trivium, Funeral For A Friend, Iron Maiden, Fall Out Boy, Slayer, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Red Hot Chili Peppers, System of a Down, Green Day, Bullet For My Valentine, Sikth, Therapy, Lost Prophets, Slipknot, My Chemical Romance, Biffy Clyro.
The tutors and guests this year include members of : The Prodigy, Sugababes, Feeder, Annie Lennox, Get Amped , Mel C, Skunk Anansie, Feeder, 'A', Sleeper, McQueen, Million Dead, Snuff, Dan Carter (Radio One Rock Show), Ghost of a Thousand, Julie Wier (Visible Noise Records), Lee Erinmez (Radio One Punk Show), Hundred Reasons, Sikth, Therapy, Pitchshifter, This is Menace, Floors and Walls with more names to be announced.
