About Lloyd Knott

I live near Bournemouth in Dorset on the south coast of England, pretty much guaranteed snow free all year round. Between jobs atm but mostly trained in IT and and an on/off game designer. Huge Scifi & Fantasy fan and also of anything that has an action sequence. Also an avid PC gamer, since my first monochrome AT PC, although currently I mostly buy older classics for my collection rather than new games, though there are the odd exception.

Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid Collectors Edition
Lloyd Knott  //  20/09/2006 00:00:00

It was 1969 and the western genre had pretty much run its course, running low on new ways to rework the ‘good guy beats all odds’ cowboy stories. Many directors had worked on new takes for the genre with varying levels of success, when along came Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. The film was heavily influenced by the times, where people had begun to question who the good and bad guys really....

Peace Hotel
Lloyd Knott  //  11/09/2006 00:00:00

Now I’ve never been a fan of eastern films, particularly with subtitles, as you’ll generally lose something in the translation as far as context goes and as it distracts from the main feature. However Peace Hotel is different from what I expected it to be.

Dear Frankie
Lloyd Knott  //  16/08/2006 00:00:00

When I first sat down to watch this film I first thought it would be just another low budget soppy movie, but this is another case of ‘never judge a book by its cover’. This film does have some points where it almost gets to that, but overall it is a great story on how far people will go to protect the ones they love.

While ‘The Lost Boys’ and ‘The Hive’ introduce the territorial nature of the Wraith....

Tony Christie is a name that was largely forgotten as his popularity in the UK began to decline in the 80s and 90s, which comes as a surprise when compared to his recent resurgence and newfound fame. Some interest was gained when Peter Kay used the song Amarillo in his series Phoenix Nights, however that didn’t come close to the recognition the song attained on March 14th 2005...
