Tartan Video will be releasing the DVD of Andrew and Jeremy Get Married, on the 14th of November. The retail price is quoted as £19.99, here’s the full press release:

A love story for today! Andrew is a former bus driver, ex-drug addict from South London. Jeremy is a retired Cambridge-educated, English teacher. After meeting in a gay bar, they fall in love and five years into their relationship they decide to get married. This film documents a year in their lives as they prepare to make that ultimate commitment to each other in a civil ceremony. Each talks frankly about their own wildly different backgrounds, their family, their friends, who include novelist Hanif Kureshi, and sexual experiences. Geographically, we move from Brighton, to privilged Chelsea, from Croydon council estates to the sunshine of Palm Springs. In the process, the full depth of their relationship is shown with all the bickering and making-up that any couple can recognise. And we all love a wedding!

Don Boyd’s touching documentary is a love story for today. It sparkles with warmth and honesty allowing the personalities of its two subjects to guide the drama and events. Having produced Derek Jarman’s The Tempest, and The Last of England, Boyd’s affinity with the subject is self-evident. ANDREW AND JEREMY GET MARRIED offers a sympathetic, life-affirming view of gay relationships today.

More significantly, since the film was made, new legislation is set to come into force in December with the Civil Partnership Act, which will allow two people of the same sex to receive legally-recognised partnership ceremonies – in other words, gay weddings. An important film at a landmark time for equal rights in the UK.
